Jim Gimzewski spoke to us today. Jim is probably the most enlightening speaker we have had. Jim spoke about various aspects of art and science, and the necessity of the creative drive in both fields. Jim’s speech seemed to wander about his own mind, in the process implying a strong message about culture and society while [...] -

This blog is going to be fairly retroactive… Yesterday, we toured around the local Californian area, from Santa Monica to Venice. We went to the Science Museum first, this was really an odd experience for me. Coming to this museum on rare occasions as a small child has imbibed the place with old emotions. The sense [...] -

Can you pipe happiness through a nanotube? Does anyone know? Today I visited the CNSI building and after some discussion met with my project group. Today was a day of joy. We arrived at CNSI and listened to a lecture on waves this morning. We discussed waves of varying types, longitudinal and transverse, sound. light, and magnetic. Waves: http://paws.kettering.edu/~drussell/Demos/waves/wavemotion.html Rita performed a demonstration on superconductor magnetic waves by levitating a small magnet over a superconductor cooled by liquid nitrogen. Waves of [...] -

Learning, really for the first time, in a funtional college campus and scientific community has been extremely satisfying, even this first day has dramatically inspired me. I arrived at CNSI and met Adam, who took us into the lecture hall and explained the program. He elaborated on the meaning of the the Art|Sci symbiosis. He explained [...] -
