This is the last blog I will be posting, and I would just like to say how much I have enjoyed this magnificent and enriching experience. I have learned so much information about not only nano-technology, but biology, light, optics, color, waves, and even physics. I have made so many friends that will last a life [...] -

Today we started off the day with a fascinating lecture on visual and optical illusions. I loved learning that optical illusions are a result of the brain confusing images from the real world. The brain has a pre-set data base of what visual signals correspond with a particular object that are used to resolve ambiguities in the [...] -

Today was one of the most interesting and exciting days we’ve had in this program. We started off the day with an interesting lecture on molecular nanostructures. The most interesting part of this lecture was how Paul Rothemund has allowed DNA to be woven in to tiles that can self assemble to actually perform calculations on a microscopic [...]

Today was a fantastic day of learning and fun here at the nanolab. We started the day with a wonderful lecture on bio-waves. Bio-waves are interesting forms of energy that are transmitted that used and transmitted between organisms. The bio-wave I found to be most interesting was that of smell. It was fascinating to learn about [...]

Today was a wonderful day of fun and learning as we visited two museums and walked around Venice Beach. Our first trip was to the California Science Center. All of the exhibits here were fastinating. Here is a link to the museum for more information: http://www.californiasciencecenter.org/MainPage.php. I loved learning about the ecology of Earth in the room with the three projection screens and one of my [...] -

Today was a day of preparations. The main focus of the day was to get our projects ready for the midterm presentations today. We started the day by a guest lecture from John Carpenter, who showed us an interesting combination of architecture and painting. He first showed us a new technique of biological imaging that uses [...] -

Today was another fascinating day of learning here at the nanolab. Today we began with a lecture on the optical properties of materials. The most interesting part, to me, was learning the reason why things are reflective or transparent is because of the gap between the outer level of electrons and the inner level. The larger [...] -

Today was another fantastic day of learning and fun in this program, and as always we had a great lecture to start things off. The lecture was on the patterns that develop in a variety of organisms in both structure and function. I loved learning about the morphogen proteins and how they bind to specific regions of [...] -

With all of the hours I spent trying to imagine what this program would be like, today met and exceeded all my expectations. Today is exactly what I pictured myself doing here. From the microscopes, to the lectures, to the ferrofluid lab, today truly had it all. I was intrigued by the all of information I was able to add to [...] -

Today we began our program and were introduced to the fascinating concept of nanotechnology. Since my discovery of this program, I have been looking forward to finding out more about this new and interesting concept which I had little knowledge of prior to my attendance. The concepts discussed in the first lecture including the two ways that nanotechnology works: [...] -
